Steve Smith is an engineer by training and an environmentalist by practice. He has a diverse background of employment highlighted by work in the engineering field, ESL instruction in South Korea, agricultural work in Australia, and waste diverion at the University of Manitoba.

Steve is currently pursuing a masters degree in Natural Resources Management. His research has focused on pattens of waste disposal and material recovery in Canada. He is currently working on methods to reduce greenhouse gas emssions from landfills through landfill gas capture.

In addition to formal training Steve has had the opportunity to attend various sustainability workshops. Steve recognizes that a sustainable community is a safe and healthy community. Such a community can only be realized through proper planning and meaningful consultation with residents.
