Markus Buchart has been active in politics, both provincial and federal, since the late 1980s. During his six years as leader of the Green Party of Manitoba (1999-2005), he achieved 20% of the vote and a second place finish in the Wolseley riding in the 2003 provincial election.
Markus has worked as a provincial government economist in both the Finance and Environment departments. He has practised law since 1996, currently with the firm of Tupper & Adams.
Markus's current entry into municipal politics stems from a deep concern for the continued viability of our city, and a determination to see the Green values applied to its government. He believes that our city's citizens can live well, but should do so well within our means — fiscal and environmental.
