A teacher in Manitoba since 1990 currently working as a workplace language instructor, Glenda Whiteman has been active in opposing mosquito fogging and urban sprawl in Winnipeg. At the municipal level, she has lobbied for better bicycle infrastructure, alternatives to pesticides, police accountability, and the continuation of the Civic Environmental Committee. At the provincial and federal levels, she has lobbied for improved water quality (in particular, Lake Winnipeg), for measures to improve children's health, and to make regulations governing chemicals more reflective of current literature on their safety. For the past three years she has been the Executive Director of Concerned Residents of Winnipeg (CROW) and the volunteer secretary of the Canadian Coalition for Health & Environment.
