Platform:
Constance believes it's time that St. James-Brooklands had representation that is sensible and responsive and that contributes a balanced perspective at City Hall. Here are Menzies' top priorities:
Increased Citizen Engagement/Transparency at City Hall (which would include)
- Form a Residents Advisory Committee
- Increase two-way communication through print, web, open houses and office hours
- Improve accountability at City Hall and expand the code of ethics
Comprehensive Municipal Tax Reform (which would include)
- Create a financial plan that allows phasing-out of the business tax
- Remove the education portion on the property tax bill
- Propose property taxes that reflect land values, not structures
Green Spaces & Healthy Communities (which would include)
- Support river/creek and green spaces protection and revitalization
- Facilitate a comprehensive transportation plan
- Support the use and growth of community centres, pools and libraries
"I fully support economic growth and prosperity within our city; I don't believe our residents or environment need to suffer to make this happen. Long-term, achievable, sustainable solutions are out there. We need to make this happen in Winnipeg." — Constance Menzies
