Does City Hall need political parties?

The Council of Women of Winnipeg is sponsoring a panel discussion on the topic "Does City Hall need Political Parties?".

Winnipeg has a long tradition of political parties - overt and covert - at City Hall. The Winnipeg Green Party, Manitoba NDP and Winnipeg Citizens Coalition have recently moved to endorse municipal candidates, leading to considerable interest in the possible positive and negative effects of party politics on Winnipeg City Council.

We can expect a lively discussion among five party presidents or their delegates.

The panel will take place 7-9 p.m., Monday March 1, 2010 at Convocation Hall, University of Winnipeg. The moderator will be Richard Cloutier, host of CJOB Radio's Richard Cloutier Reports.
